Bam
Free & open source  ·  v0.6 prerelease

A whole browser in one syllable. Bam.

Bam is a fast, native browser for your Mac. A tidy sidebar, Spaces, Split View, Peek — built in Swift on the WebKit engine that already lives on your machine. Click, and it's there.

What's inside

The good browser ideas, kept. The clutter, not.

Bam borrows the layout your hands already know — sidebar on the left, Spaces to switch contexts — and keeps everything else out of the way.

Spaces

Up to 32 Spaces with their own names, colors, icons and order. Work, home, that one project — swipe between them, and every Space keeps its place.

Peek

⇧-click a link and it opens in an overlay on top of your page. Read it, close it, and you're exactly where you were. Or promote it to a real tab.

Split View

Two live pages in one window with a draggable divider. Each pane keeps its own address bar and controls, and the pair is saved as a pair.

Little Bam

A pocket-sized window for quick looks. Links from other apps open here instead of barging into your whole setup — promote one with ⌘O when it earns it.

Floating video

Leave the tab and a playing video follows you in a borderless floating panel. Flick it toward a corner and it tucks itself in.

Sleeping tabs

Idle pages quietly power down and hand their memory back. They wake the instant you come back for them, right where you left off.

Coming from Arc? The sidebar, Spaces, Peek and Split View will feel like home. Bam is an independent, original project — it just agrees with you about where tabs belong.
Hands on keys

Everything is a shortcut away.

One palette for new tabs, searches and jumping to any open tab in any Space.

Under the hood

Native, the way your Mac means it.

  • Swift and AppKit, so windows, menus and animations behave like the rest of your Mac.
  • WebKit, the engine already on your machine. No bundled Chromium doing push-ups in the background.
  • No account, no sync service, no telemetry pitch. Download it, open it, browse.
  • MIT licensed, with the source on GitHub. Read it, fork it, file a grumpy issue.

Bam.

That's the whole pitch. One download, one syllable, and your Mac gets a browser that sounds like what it does.
